Custom Window Hood Molds & Eyebrow Caps: Lightweight EPS Architectural Trim
First impressions matter. Window hood molds and eyebrow caps are among the most visible architectural details on any façade. They define the style, depth, and character of a building. Royal Foam US manufactures custom EPS window moldings and decorative window caps with over 25 years of in-house production experience. Our products are lightweight, moisture-proof, and precisely fabricated via CNC. They are ready to install and built to last.
Our product range includes durable foam window hoods, elegant custom window eyebrow caps, and versatile exterior window moldings—all made from lightweight EPS foam with a protective hard-coat finish. We offer a solution that looks like traditional materials but performs better in Florida's climate.
"Window eyebrow molding" is another term for a curved or arched hood that gently rises above the window, mimicking the shape of an eyebrow. Royal Foam US crafts these moldings in any radius and profile, giving your façade a refined, hand-carved look without the weight or cost of stone.
Are you building a new luxury home, renovating a commercial facade, or restoring a stucco property in Florida? The right exterior window hoods transform a flat wall into an architectural statement. This guide covers materials, styles, installation, durability... Get to know how Royal Foam US delivers results that precast concrete and wood cannot match.

What Are Window Hood Molds & Eyebrow Caps?
Window hood molds are architectural trim elements installed directly above windows. They serve two purposes: protection and aesthetics. They deflect rain and direct water away from the window frame. They add shadow lines, depth, and classical character to an otherwise flat facade.
Eyebrow caps are a subtype of window hood. The term typically refers to a curved or arched profile—resembling a raised eyebrow—popular in Mediterranean, Tuscan, and Spanish colonial architecture. Window pediment moldings often feature a triangular or flat top with classical ornamental detail.
Royal Foam US produces both styles—and everything in between—in
-
Flat caps with simple drip edges
-
Arched eyebrow profiles with scrollwork and keystones
-
Triangular pediments with dentil molding detail
-
Bracketed hoods for Craftsman and colonial applications

Why Are EPS Foam Luxury Window Hood Moldings Better Than Concrete?
Traditional precast concrete window hoods have been used for decades. However, concrete brings serious challenges. It is heavy, fragile in transit, slow to install, and expensive to customize. EPS architectural trim with a hard-coat polyurea solves every one of these problems.
The table below compares EPS foam moldings against alternative materials across the key performance metrics architects and contractors care about most:

A standard precast concrete window hood weighing 10–15 lbs per linear foot requires two workers and supplemental anchoring. An equivalent EPS window hood weighs less than 1 lb per linear foot. One person can install it with adhesive and mechanical fasteners in minutes. Consequently, labor costs drop by 40–60% compared to concrete installation.
The Benefits of Decorative Foam Window Caps
Decorative foam window caps offer a broad range of technical and aesthetic advantages. Here is a full breakdown:
Performance Advantages
-
Our hard‑coat polyurea layer forms an impenetrable moisture barrier over the EPS foam core. Moisture cannot penetrate, preventing swelling, delamination, and freeze damage.
-
No water absorption means no expansion cycles during freeze-thaw cycles. EPS foam maintains its shape and surface integrity for decades of winter exposure.
-
The factory-applied hard‑coat polyurea layer is UV-resistant. The intense Florida sun does not discolor, crack, or degrade the coating.
-
EPS foam and hard‑coat polyurea provide no nutritional resources for insects or fungi. There is no risk of structural failure due to biological attack.
-
The rigid polyurea outer shell withstands accidental impacts from ladders, maintenance equipment, and wind-blown debris.
Design and Production Advantages
CNC machining allows us to repeatedly manufacture any profile with an accuracy of up to 0.5 inches. Standard molds place no limitations on our production process. No pre-treatment or on-site preparation is required. Compatibility with plaster and EIFS systems is guaranteed. Our window hood molds integrate perfectly into plaster and EIFS wall systems. The foam core adheres perfectly to the mesh and base layer.
You don't need a crane, heavy scaffolding, or structural reinforcement for installation. Standard adhesives and mechanical fasteners are sufficient for most applications.
How Are Custom Foam Window Moldings Fabricated?
Here's how Royal Foam US takes your concept from drawing to finished product:
1. You provide drawings, photographs, or samples. Our team creates a digital 3D profile file. For complex projects, we produce a physical sample for approval.
2. We cut high-density EPS foam blanks on CNC hot-wire machines or milling machines. Tolerances are ±0.5 inches for all profiles, ensuring a consistent fit on-site.
3. We coat each product with a factory-applied hard‑coat polyurea. This creates an impermeable moisture barrier and provides a rigid outer shell.
4. We sand the surfaces to a smooth profile and apply a primer coat. The product is ready for painting, decorative finishing, or direct plastering immediately upon delivery. We can also supply prefabricated products that have been painted at the shop and are ready to install.
5. Our team inspects each product for dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and coating integrity before packaging. Our in-house production means no outsourcing and complete quality control at every stage.
6. We pre-assemble products where possible, reducing your labor costs on-site. Fast quote generation is standard, even for large commercial projects.

How Are Lightweight Window Hood Moldings Installed?
We designed the installation of lightweight architectural trim elements from Royal Foam US for quick and easy installation. Proper technique is critical for long-lasting adhesion and watertightness. Here's the standard process:
1. The base wall surface must be clean, dry, and free of loose materials. Stucco and EIFS surfaces should be lightly sanded at the contact points.
2. Hold the cap in place without adhesive. Check the fit of the window frame. Mark the fastener attachment locations.
3. Apply polyurethane construction adhesive to the back of the cap. Use a zig-zag pattern to ensure complete contact.
4. Press the cap firmly into place.
6. Apply the finish coat according to the instructions. Our hoods accept acrylic, elastomeric, and mineral paints, thin-layer plaster, and EIFS finishes.
7. Caulk around the seams.
Installation time for a standard residential window hood is 15-30 minutes per unit for an experienced installer. Pre-assembled units from Royal Foam US further reduce labor costs on-site.
Why Are Exterior Eyebrow Caps Resistant to Moisture and UV?
Florida's climate places great demands on exterior building materials. High humidity, intense UV radiation, tropical storms, and freezing cycles in northern regions quickly destroy traditional finishing materials. Royal Foam US has developed its exterior decorative trims specifically for these conditions.
The base is an EPS foam core. It has zero water absorption. This property is intrinsic. The closed-cell structure of EPS is physically impermeable to moisture, and this property is unaffected by surface sealants that can crack or peel over time. EPS foam is non-hygroscopic, mold-resistant, and shape-resistant.
The exterior protective coating is hard-coat polyurea. We apply it using a spraying method. This seamless, monolithic layer provides complete resistance to UV radiation, mechanical damage, and temperature fluctuations. EPS foam products coated with hard-coat polyurea retain over 90% of their surface hardness after 5,000 hours of UV exposure in accelerated testing (ASTM G154 equivalent protocol).
Our exterior architectural detail made with EPS foam and hard-coat polyurea:
-
will not rot, rust, or swell from moisture;
-
will not crack from freeze-thaw cycles;
-
will not fade or lose strength when exposed to UV radiation.
Standard PVC can become brittle and fade over time, especially in Florida sun.

Pros and Cons of EPS Window Hood Molds
EPS foam window trims offer many advantages. They don't absorb moisture at all, so they won't rot, swell, or crack in the cold. They're also up to 95 percent lighter than concrete trims. They're easy and quick to install, requiring no crane or movers. Almost any shape can be made on a CNC machine, eliminating the need for a mold. The trims arrive on-site already assembled and prepainted, so you don't need to do much on-site work. They complement stucco, façade systems, and almost any other finish. These trims last 25-40 years or longer, requiring virtually no maintenance. They're impervious to termites, rot, and rust. They're also less expensive than concrete, stone, or carved wood.
However, there are limitations that are important to be aware of. These are purely decorative elements. They are not load-bearing and should not be used for leaning or hanging heavy objects. After the shapes are installed, they need to be caulked around the seams, otherwise, the UV lights can reach the glue and weaken it. A strong impact with a sharp object may dent the foam core, although the coating can withstand normal impacts. We also do not recommend installing these hoods in areas where they are subject to frequent impact with heavy objects, such as near loading docks or warehouse doors.
