Testimonials

Our old wood window surrounds were totally rotted out. Called Royal Foam for advice, and the free consult was super helpful. Went with PU foam because they said it would hold up better and capture the original profile details. The match is perfect. Looks exactly like the 1920s originals, but zero maintenance now. So happy!

Patricia Holloway

I'm building a new house and wanted something different than the standard trim. Sent them a sketch of a modern, chunky window surround I saw online. They said no problem and fabricated it in EPS for me. Super lightweight, easy for my crew to install, and after stucco, it looks monolithic. Custom work without the crazy price tag.

David Chen

We have a beach cottage with crazy humidity and salty air. Wood trim just dies here. Royal Foams PU foam window surrounds are a lifesaver. Had a quick consult, they recommended the right density, and we installed them last spring. Still looks brand new. No swelling, no peeling paint. Finally, a permanent solution!

Frequently Asked Questions

+
Absolutely you can.
+
This is one of our favorite questions because it reveals a common misconception. Exterior window pediments absolutely work for modern homes, you just choose a different style. Flat, geometric exterior window pediments with clean lines and minimal ornamentation fit perfectly with minimalist architecture. We did a project in Miami about a year ago, a sleek contemporary home with floor-to-ceiling glass and a flat roof. The architect specified simple rectangular pediments with sharp edges and a matte charcoal finish. The result was stunning, bold windows, flawless symmetry, and a facade that looked intentional rather than sterile. Modern architecture isn't about eliminating detail, it's about choosing the right detail with precision. And that's exactly what the right exterior pediment provides.
+
Size is part of it, but not the whole story. Window pediments frame upper openings and create rhythm across a facade. Door pediments emphasize entryways and create arrival moments. The proportions differ too, front door pediments project further while window elements stay subtle. Coordinating both creates cohesive visual language.
+
Custom is our specialty. About 40% of our projects involve customization, whether unusual dimensions, specific curves, integrated branding, or matching historic details. We don't hide behind "contact us" language, we actively encourage custom work. Every piece can be tailored: size, shape, curve, texture, finish, mounting configuration. A medical office in Tampa needed pediments with subtle crosses incorporated into the design without being overtly religious, just a nod to their healthcare mission. We worked through several iterations until we landed on something tasteful, meaningful, and architecturally sound. Custom doesn't mean expensive or complicated, it means we're paying attention to your specific needs.
+
This is the question that makes us pull out our sample case and watch faces change. EPS with polyurea coating doesn't look like foam or plastic when finished properly. We can replicate limestone texture, coral and travertine look, aged stucco variations. The secret is in the coating process and texture application. We've done projects where architects wanted aged limestone looks, complete with subtle pitting and color variation. We created samples, adjusted the finish three times until perfect, and the final installation was so convincing that a stone mason on site asked where we sourced the material. He literally couldn't tell it wasn't real stone until he touched it and realized the weight was different.
+
Custom orders: two to four weeks typically.
+
We provide complete technical documentation with every order.
+
Both.
+
Yes.
+
Not with our material and coating system. Raw EPS is non-organic and is not attractive to insects, and our polyurea coating creates an additional complete, impenetrable barrier. The coating is hard, non-porous, and provides no food source or entry point for insects or mold. We've never had a pest or mold issue with a properly coated and installed pediment in 25 years.

One of the simplest, yet most impactful ways to elevate any façade is Custom Exterior Pediments. Your windows and doors create the very first impression of your home. Therefore, that first view highlights the character and style of your entire space.

Moreover, people often say, “My home is my castle”. So, when you add exterior accents above windows or doors, you truly transform your house into a more structured and impressive place. In addition, every detail adds character and a sense of completeness.

We guide you through Custom Exterior Pediments. As a result, you can see how each option can transform a home from ordinary to refined, because your home deserves thoughtful design.

What Are Custom Exterior Pediments?

An exterior pediment works as a decorative architectural element. You can place it above windows, doors, or entryways. Historically, Greek and Roman architecture used similar forms to create balance and symmetry.

Today, manufacturers produce exterior pediments from lightweight EPS foam. Therefore, you get easier installation, long service life, and a classic architectural look.

In addition, these elements offer clear advantages:

  • They instantly improve curb appeal
  • They create visual harmony across the façade
  • They highlight windows and doors as focal points
  • They increase perceived property value

Types of Custom Exterior Pediments

Choosing the right pediment depends on your home’s architecture and style goals. Therefore, it helps to understand the main options.

Classical Triangle Pediment

A triangular pediment adds a strong traditional character. In addition, it fits well with brick, stone, and wood façades.

Historically, Greek architecture used this shape as a gable element that helped distribute roof load. However, in modern design, it serves mainly a decorative role. Still, it creates balance and connects architectural elements across the façade.

So, if you want a timeless and structured look, this option works best.

Segmental (Arched) Window Pediment

Arched pediments create a softer and more elegant appearance. Therefore, they suit Colonial, Victorian, and historic-style homes.

In addition, designers often add trim or keystone details to improve visual harmony. As a result, the façade feels balanced and calm, not overloaded.

These elements also require minimal maintenance. Usually, simple cleaning is enough. Moreover, lightweight construction makes installation easy, even without special experience.

Flat (Entablature) and Modern Pediment

Flat pediments work best for modern architecture. They emphasize clean lines and large windows without overpowering the design.

Therefore, they create a simple and elegant visual effect that fits contemporary homes.

In addition, these elements offer practical benefits. Lightweight materials reduce installation time and cost. As a result, you get a clean architectural upgrade without complications.

Exterior Door Pediments

A door pediment can completely change the feeling of an entrance. Therefore, it turns a simple doorway into a strong architectural feature.

In addition, when you match door and window pediments, the façade looks unified and intentional.

You can choose:

  • Front entry pediments – bold, classic, and welcoming
  • Interior pediments – subtle accents for hallways or rooms
  • Custom designs – adapted to specific architecture and dimensions

Custom Headers – Tailored Elegance

If you want a unique look, custom pediments offer full design freedom. Unlike standard products, they follow your vision in shape, size, and detail.

For example, you can choose sharp geometric forms, soft curves, or completely original designs. Therefore, the final result blends naturally with your home.

In addition, custom pieces improve curb appeal and create a stronger architectural identity. As a result, your home stands out instead of blending in.

The Art of Creating Balance: Matching Accents

When you combine Custom Exterior Pediments, the façade becomes more cohesive. Therefore, the design feels intentional and complete.

To achieve the best result, follow these principles:

  • Match materials and finishes for visual consistency
  • Balance scale between large and small architectural elements
  • Maintain symmetry across the façade
  • Add supporting details like trim or pilasters

As a result, the exterior looks structured, balanced, and visually clean.

Materials and Installation: Custom Exterior Pediments

Today, most pediments use EPS foam because it offers strong practical advantages. Therefore, homeowners and builders prefer it.

Key benefits include:

  • Lightweight structure that simplifies installation
  • High durability in different weather conditions
  • Easy customization and repainting
  • Lower cost compared to wood or stone

In addition, these benefits make the system both practical and visually flexible.

Installation: Custom Exterior Pediments

Installing foam pediments stays simple and fast. Most people can handle it without special tools.

Follow these steps:

  1. Mark the position above the window or door
  2. Apply adhesive without acetone
  3. Fix the element securely in place
  4. Seal the edges to protect from moisture and UV exposure

As a result, you get a fast architectural upgrade with minimal effort.

Easy Maintenance Tips

Foam pediments do not require heavy maintenance. However, simple care helps them last longer.

  • Wash occasionally with mild soap and water
  • Repaint when changing exterior colors
  • Check seals from time to time

Therefore, the façade stays clean and fresh for years.

Comparison: Which Pediment Fits Your Home?

  • Triangle – traditional homes, classic and strong look
  • Arched – Colonial and Victorian styles, soft and elegant
  • Flat – modern architecture, clean and minimal
  • Front Door – entry focus, bold and welcoming
  • Custom – any style, fully personalized

How to Choose the Right Pediment

Choosing depends on your design goals. Therefore, each style creates a different visual effect.

  • If you love classic design, choose triangle forms
  • If you prefer softness, choose arched shapes
  • If you want minimalism, choose flat lines
  • If you want impact, focus on the entrance
  • If you want uniqueness, choose custom design

In addition, combining styles can also create a balanced result.

Case Studies: Real Transformations

Colonial Home – Triangle

In this project, triangle pediments improved symmetry across the façade. As a result, the home gained a stronger and more structured appearance.

Modern Townhouse – Flat

Flat pediments highlighted clean architectural lines. Therefore, the home gained a modern and polished look without visual overload.

Luxury Renovation – Custom

Custom arched pediments helped preserve historic character. In addition, they added a unique architectural identity and increased visual value.

Suburban Home – Front View

A single lightweight pediment transformed the entrance. Therefore, the house gained warmth and stronger curb appeal without major renovation.

As you walk closer, you notice details above the windows and doors. In addition, each pediment adds structure, shadow, and depth. As a result, the façade feels complete and intentional.

Finally, you see how all elements work together. Therefore, your home feels not just decorated, but truly designed.
